In The Man Who Lost His Foot, Ali was the chauffeur of Arbram Nifar, an Egyptian-Greek importer of Turkish and Egyptian cigarettes. Ali drove Nifar to and from his house in Hill Street, Mayfair and a farm in Devon where he cultivated poppy for the production of heroin. It was also Ali's duty to drive Nifar's wife around London delivering drugs to various drug pushers. Surveillance of Ali's vehicle by Inspector Gaskin revealed that Nifar's network of drug pushers included shops in Paddington (the shop of Greek chemist Valesid), Soho, Limehouse and Mayfair.
