In The Case of the Lost Coins, Constantine Peligrinos was a Greek who have lived in London for some time. Prior to this, he had lived across the Greek border in Albania, in a villa near the town of Delvaros on the Adriatic coast. An ardent numismatist, Peligrinos had built up a valuable collection of old coins. He had been unable to take his collection with him when political turmoil had forced him to flee Albania. He buried the coins in the garden of his villa but seeing no hope of recovering them, he made a gift of them to the British Museum if they could retrieve them. Biggles was asked to undertake the mission. Unlike Wung Ling in another retrieval mission, The Case of the Mandarin's Treasure Chest, Peligrinos did not accompany Biggles on the journey to fetch his coins.
