In The Case of the Haunted Island, Jules Boulenger was a ship's chandler who maintained an establishment on the wharf at Papeete, Tahiti. According to Captain Hay, the murderer Captain Nathaniel Clark sold some marine instruments to Boulenger. Clark had robbed the instruments off the Belinda after murdering the master Captain David MacDonald at Oto-Via. Boulenger's name was only mentioned by Captain Hay. He did not appear in person in the story.
