In Part 1, Biggles and co. take up a job to train pilots for the Egyptian Air Force but end up being asked to investigate mysterious German activities in the desert. They join forces with a young Egyptian archaeologist Kamal El Melen who believes there is a treasure to be found at a lost oasis in the desert. After being caught in a sandstorm, and running short of fuel because their tanks had been sabotaged, Biggles, Bertie and Kamal crashland in a wadi and find a large temple. Inside they find crates of German rifles and machine guns. They bump into two Germans, an SS officer Botho von Ettal and an female archaeologist Heike von Klepp. Although the Germans are armed, Biggles and Bertie manage to disarm and take them prisoner, only to hear a strangely familiar voice behind them....
Biggles meets an old adversary and has to make new friends to get out of the oasis and the Germans are not the only threats he has to deal with.
