Mission Oriental is the fourth short story in the sixth anthology of Biggles Air Police short stories entitled Biggles Presses On. The anthology was first published in January, 1958.
Like a few others, this is an "extraction" story. Biggles is asked to rescue the Sultana of Kulang and the ten year old Prince Suba, from their isolated palace at Kulang which is being threatened by communist rebels.
The Special Air PoliceEdit
- Air Commodore Raymond
- Algy Lacey
- Ginger Hebblethwaite
- Bertie Lissie
- Handley Page Hastings - the text specifically mentions the V.I.P. transport version, although the designation C4 is not used.
- The Hastings was rather a large aircraft to attempt to land on an unprepared strip such as the beach at Kulang. The long range of the Hastings was not a consideration. Biggles was not far from suitable jumping off points such as Penang or Kuala Lumpur. He could have used a pair of Proctors or Austers.
- Not for the first time Bertie once again demonstrates his quick reactions and marksmanship.
