In Biggles Sees Too Much, Paul Voudray was a French fisherman from St. Malo. He had been poaching for lobsters at an uninhabited islet of the Channel Islands group when he had the misfortune of coming ashore and witnessing a gun battle between various fugitives who had been landed there as part of a people-smuggling racket run by Julius Brunner and his brother Stephen. He tried to run away but got shot in the groin. Biggles, Bertie and Ginger heard his cries for help and treated his wounds. Biggles later asked a French fishing boat which had landed at the islet to take Paul back to St. Malo. As the boat was itself from St. Malo and the captain was Paul's neighbour, this was easily arranged. Two surviving fugitives on the islet were later taken off the islet by French authorities (the islet being disputed territory between Britain and France) and convicted for the attempted murder of Paul.
