In Biggles in the Underworld, the Podbury Flying Club and Flying School was a flying club located near the village of Podbury in Surrey. Biggles' attention was drawn to the club when he found its phone number T.E.791791 scribbled on a phone book in Twotrees Farm. After Nicholas Lazor escaped from the farm, the phone number provided Biggles with only lead as to where the master criminal might have gone.

Pursuing this line of inquiry, Biggles and Ginger called at the club whose Resident Secretary and General Manager was a retired R.A.F. Flight Lieutenant Kendrick Seaton-Thompson. At first Thompson denied knowing Lazor or his associate Brian Basil Caine but after Biggles told him what kind of person Lazor was and how he had slashed Caine with a razor, Thompson was frightened into admitting that Lazor was a member of the club.

It turned out that Lazor was, at this time, on the club premises and that Thompson had told him that he was being interviewed by two Scotland Yard detectives. Lazor might have overhead what Thompson was saying because, shortly thereafter, he stole a De Havilland Gipsy Moth and escaped.

According to Air Police records, the club had been registed on 5 August 1964. It had in its inventory two Auster Aiglets and a Piper Cub. The Gipsy Moth which Lazor stole was a personal aircraft owned by Thompson.

The Podbury Flying Club is a fictional location, as is the village of the same name.
