In The Case of the Murdered Apprentice, Sergeant Winskip was the police officer at Buckbury. When Biggles studied the foot path taken by the murdered apprentice Edmund Teale, and knowing that aircraft must have been used in transporting his body, he determined that the only suitable landing place was a big field which was part of Larford Hall. He then called Sergeant Winskip and asked him for background information about the estate as it lay on his beat.
