In The Case of the Brilliant Pupil, Tod Mills was the chauffeur of Lancelot Seymour and his partner in crime. Mills, already wanted by Scotland Yard, was in league with Seymour and assisted him in flying out the proceeds from a robbery. Just as Seymour was taking off for a test flight at the Home Counties Flying Club, Mills rushed forward with a brown paper parcel which he said was Seymour's pajamas. When Biggles asked to set the contents of the parcel, Mills deciding that the game was up, turned to run, but Ginger tripped him and then restrained him with the help of two mechanics. Mills was arrested together with Seymour, in what Gaskin called a "good night's work".
